In a plan that has been stalled for 3 years, the Minister of Health, Monica Garcia, commented this Monday on revising the draft of the Comprehensive Plan for Smoking Prevention and Control 2021-2025.
It contemplates the prohibition of smoking in the terraces of bars and restaurants, as well as on beaches or in private cars. Likewise, the current “smoke-free” areas would be maintained, although it is intended to study each case to be able to expand it.
“We are going to review it and talk to all those affected, always putting health at the center. We cannot turn our backs on the only measure that can give the population more years of life and a better quality of life,” the minister insisted.
Likewise, the minister commented that vapers are included in this plan with the aim of limiting them, especially disposable ones, of which there is a European consensus to adopt even more restrictive measures due to their high environmental impact.
