Cold Alert in Madrid due to below zero temperatures

Temperatures continue to fall these days in Madrid, today Monday we woke up with the thermometers marking -4, and according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) the minimum temperatures will remain below zero in the early hours of these days in the capital and even -6 degrees on the high coasts of the Sierra de Guadarrama.

Madrid is one of the autonomous communities that are at risk for wind and cold, and there is a yellow warning for low temperatures in the mountains.

For this reason, the Community of Madrid activated since last Friday the level 01 alert for cold due to the evolution of the expected minimum temperatures. The action protocol establishes that alert 1 should be triggered when temperatures fall below 2 degrees below zero on one of the next three days.

Likewise, the situation will not improve during the week due to the entry of an Isolated High Level Depression (DANA) that will enter through the Bay of Biscay, which will end up affecting the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. As a consequence, from Tuesday onwards, an episode of snowfall is expected in the mountains, which may continue on Wednesday and Thursday, with precipitation throughout the Peninsula.

We recommend taking the necessary measures to face this new cold wave.
