The temperatures start to rise little by little and the summer weather is just around the corner, with all this, we already have an official date for the opening of the summer swimming pools in Madrid.
The municipal swimming pools will open next Wednesday, May 15, coinciding with the feast of San Isidro. Similar to the previous year, and due to the higher temperatures, the sports facilities will open to the public one month earlier than usual. These will remain open until the season closes on September 8.
The Madrid City Council will open a total of 28 swimming pools this summer, 20 outdoor and 8 indoor pools that will have a solarium. In addition, this summer 2024, the capital will have 2 new facilities in the districts of Tetuán and Barajas. However, the summer swimming pools of Peñuelas, in the district of Arganzuela; Vicente de Bosque, in Fuencarral-El Pardo; Luis Aragonés, in Hortaleza, and the one at the Centro Deportivo Municipal Vallecas, in Puente de Vallecas, will remain closed this season.
The facilities will have 2 daily shifts: from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. In addition to these, a full-day pass (from 10:00 to 21:00) was added during August last summer at the request of users. Users of this last shift will be able to leave the facilities as many times as they wish thanks to an identification device.
In order to enter the pools it will be necessary to read the QR code generated by the online purchase of the tickets. If there are no tickets available at the requested venue, the system will offer a nearby pool where the reservation can be made, in order to offer other alternatives to users.
Tickets for the morning or afternoon shift are priced at 2.25 euros for the general public. and have numerous discounts for different age groups: free for children under 5, 1.35 euros for children under 14, 1.80 euros for children under 26 and 0.70 euros for seniors over 65.
In the case of the full day shift, the price for the general public is 4.50 euros. The rates for the other age groups are as follows: free for children under 5 years old, 2.70 for children under 14 years old, 3.60 for children under 26 years old and 1.35 for people over 65 years old.
On Wednesday, May 15, on the occasion of the opening of the new season, all pools will hold a free open house. To access it will be necessary to purchase a ticket through the website or the Madrid Móvil application.
