Chinese New Year in Madrid 2025: dates, program and schedules

Chinese New Year 2025 is coming and Madrid is getting ready to celebrate it. As has been the norm in recent years, the Madrid City Council has prepared a program of cultural and leisure activities.

In 2025, the Year of the Wooden Snake is celebrated. Specifically, the Chinese New Year Festival begins on Wednesday, January 29 and will conclude on February 16, 2026.

In Madrid, the Chinese Year celebrations were born a decade ago in the streets of Usera, known as the “China Town” of Madrid. Madrid’s China Town as it is one of the city’s districts with the largest Chinese population. Those spontaneous celebrations have become part of the current cultural agenda offered by the Spanish capital.

Among the wide variety of events and activities are the fireworks display in Pradolongo Park, the classic concert (with DJ Yang) and the Grand Parade of the Chinese New Year, which will take place on Sunday, February 2.

To begin with, from January 31 to February 2, the stage located on the esplanade of the Municipal Board of the District of Usera (Av. de Rafaela Ybarra, 41) will have cultural exhibitions of Chinese associations. Nearby, there will be the Wishing Wall, a fence with intertwined red threads and ropes, where everyone can leave their wishes for the Chinese New Year 2025.
