The Golden Forest: Hike to Purgatory Waterfall & Bosque de Finlandia – November 22

Let’s discover the fun side of Madrid together by visiting these incredible places with interesting people living in the city. You’ll get to practice other languages and enjoy nature.

On this route, we’ll head into the heart of the Lozoya Valley, into a forest that looks like something out of a fairy tale. We will walk alongside the crystal-clear waters of the Aguilón stream, surrounded by the spectacular golden colors of the birch, ash, and oak trees in full autumn.

Our path will lead us to an impressive double waterfall known as the Cascada del Purgatorio (Purgatory Waterfall). On our way back, we will take a walk through the magical “Bosque de Finlandia” (Finland Forest), a unique spot with its lake and cabin that will transport us to a Nordic landscape. It’s the quintessential autumn route!

Halfway through the hike (near the waterfall), we will stop for a picnic to rest, eat, and enjoy the sound of the water and the views before starting our return.

We will go by public transport, so bring cash for the bus, (approx 10 euros round trip) which is not included in the price (under 26 years old free with Transport Pass). If you have your own car, you can bring it and take other participants with you to share the gas.
