Emperor Charles also lived here.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The monastery houses more than 10,000 works of art<\/strong> that include ceramics, sculpture, gold work, paintings and tapestries from different parts of the world. Its architecture is made up of a Plateresque-style fa\u00e7ade and an incredible Renaissance staircase. Likewise, inside, <strong>the tapestries woven in Brussels<\/strong> commissioned by the daughter of Philip II stand out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-57719 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Descalzas-Reales-5-kyhH-510x349@abc.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"503\" height=\"344\"><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 19 nuns who live in the Descalzas Reales Monastery are cloistered nuns<\/strong>, that is, they have consecrated themselves to God through obedience, chastity and poverty and live a strictly defined cloister.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After 2 years of restoration, the monastery reopens its doors with its usual guided tours lasting approximately 1 hour. These are held from <strong>Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m<\/strong>. and <strong>4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m<\/strong>., <strong>Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.<\/strong> The monastery is closed on Mondays and on specific holidays that you can check on its website.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets can be purchased by <a
