The travel experts of National Geographic<\/strong> magazine have used the criteria of “small size”<\/strong> and “cultural richness”<\/strong> to select the 100 most beautiful villages of all Spain, among them, 2 villages in Madrid<\/strong> have managed to get on the list.<\/p>\n\n

Buitrago de Lozoya<\/strong> has been selected as the third most beautiful town in Spain<\/strong> by this magazine, only behind Santillana del Mar in Cantabria and Ayll\u00f3n in Segovia.<\/p>\n\n

The first of the requirements<\/strong> to be included in this list is the size of the town<\/strong>, that is, that the population does not reach 2,000 inhabitants. And as for the second requirement, its cultural richness<\/strong>, has played in its favor its 800-meter long wall and three access gates that the magazine considers one of its greatest attractions and that makes it one of the most visited medieval villages of Madrid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The other town to sneak into the list is Chinch\u00f3n<\/strong>, with its unmistakable colorful balconies surrounding its incredible Plaza Mayor, has managed to be ranked 31st on this list<\/strong>. Its cultural richness, such as its irregular, medieval-style Plaza Mayor<\/strong>, with its galleries, balconies and portals, has helped it to be considered for the listing.
