{"id":118461,"date":"2023-12-06T14:24:31","date_gmt":"2023-12-06T14:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/yelmo-cines-is-fined-30000-for-preventing-food-and-beverages-from-entering-its-movie-theaters-with-food-and-beverages\/"},"modified":"2023-12-06T14:24:31","modified_gmt":"2023-12-06T14:24:31","slug":"yelmo-cines-is-fined-30000-for-preventing-food-and-beverages-from-entering-its-movie-theaters-with-food-and-beverages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/en\/yelmo-cines-is-fined-30000-for-preventing-food-and-beverages-from-entering-its-movie-theaters-with-food-and-beverages\/","title":{"rendered":"Yelmo Cines is fined $30,000 for preventing food and beverages from entering its movie theaters with food and beverages."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Because more than a few people crave something more than popcorn when you go to the movies, many will have tried to sneak food, drinks, snacks as hidden as possible to avoid being caught when entering the theater, because the  <strong>Basque Institute of Consumer Affairs, Kontsumobide<\/strong>has imposed on  <strong>Yelmo Cinemas<\/strong>  a penalty of 30,001 euros for preventing users from accessing its facilities with food purchased outside.<\/p>\n\n<p>All this was initiated by complaints filed by 8 individuals and two complaints filed by two consumer associations, <strong>the Basque Association of Consumers and Users (EKA\/ACUV) and Facua-Consumidores en Acci\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"990\" height=\"556\" src=\"http:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/vv.r_d.1830-1787.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/vv.r_d.1830-1787.jpeg 990w, https:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/vv.r_d.1830-1787-150x84.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/vv.r_d.1830-1787-710x399.jpeg 710w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 990px) 100vw, 990px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The complaint denounced that in the Megapark and Artea cinemas in Bizkaia and Boulevard in Vitoria it was forbidden since the beginning of this year to introduce food and beverages acquired outside these establishments. Something that these institutions consider to be a  <strong>serious consumer infringement<\/strong>  since the main activity provided by Yelmo Films is  <strong>the film exhibition law and it is not legal to ban food from abroad.<\/strong>  unless your main activity is the hotel business or it is generally prohibited.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the <strong>Community of Madrid<\/strong>, this consumer association has also taken Yelmo Cines to court for the same reasons. In its cinemas in the capital, the chain has signs with the text &#8220;the company does not allow access to these facilities with food and\/or beverages purchased outside Yelmo, therefore reserving the right of admission&#8221;, a warning that is also made on its website when selling tickets.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"http:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/500_333.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118458\" srcset=\"https:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/500_333.jpeg 500w, https:\/\/madridurbanvibes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/500_333-150x100.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The same association comments that the cinema company <strong>&#8220;intends to take refuge in the exercise of an alleged right of
