Surrounded by mountains, pine forests and fresh high altitude air, the Jarosa reservoir is an ideal place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of Madrid and immerse yourself in nature. Its environment offers simple and panoramic routes that combine water, mountains and history.

Did you know that the Jarosa reservoir was built in 1968 and is the only one in the Sierra de Guadarrama? In addition, under its waters was submerged the medieval village of La Herrería, whose remains can only be seen in times of drought. Walking here is also walking on history!

Details of the hike
The route will be 10-12 km approx. with moderate slope but affordable for everyone. We will walk around the reservoir, enjoying the views of the water surrounded by pines and oaks, and we will stop at one of the recreational areas to enjoy a relaxed picnic with spectacular views and resume our way back.

⚡ Quick tips for a great day.

Wear comfortable hiking boots or sneakers.
Carry at least 1.5 liters of water.
Pack light picnic food (sandwich, fruit, snacks).
Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses: the altitude is noticeable on the skin.
And don’t forget your camera: the views of the reservoir surrounded by mountains are postcard-perfect!

What do I need to bring?

Wear comfortable walking or hiking boots or sneakers– your feet will thank you!
Bring at least 1.5 liters of water– stay hydrated!
Pack some food for lunch (a sandwich, fruit, snacks, etc.).
Don’t forget the sunscreen to protect your skin.
And yes, that swimsuit!

IMPORTANT

We will go by public transport, so bring cash for the bus, (approx 10 euros round trip) which is not included in the price (under 26 years old free with Transport Pass). If you have your own car, you can bring it and take other participants with you to share the gas.

By purchasing the cancellation insurance you will be able to cancel and receive a full refund or change the date up to 24 hours prior to the trip. This way you guarantee not to lose the full amount of the trip due to change of plans, illness, personal issues, etc.
