We will enter the Sierra Norte de Madrid, very close to the port of Somosierra, to discover one of the most spectacular and photogenic corners of the area: the Chorrera de los Litueros, considered the highest waterfall in the entire Community of Madrid.
The trail runs between mountain meadows and oak and pine forests, while we listen to the murmur of water flowing down the ravines. The reward will be impressive: a waterfall of more than 30 meters that forms a unique landscape, perfect for relaxing, taking pictures and feeling the power of nature.
🌊 Did you know that the Chorrera de los Litueros is formed by the union of several mountain streams, including the Caño and Pedrizas? These give rise to the Duratón River, which will run through Segovian lands until it flows into the Duero.
Route details 🥾
Easy level: short route (about 3-4 km round trip) and without technical difficulty, perfect to enjoy in a group or with the family.
✅ Gentle gradient: only the last stretch to the base of the waterfall is a bit steeper, but worth it.
✅ Nature in its purest form: fresh high mountain air and a landscape that changes with the seasons – green and flowing in spring, golden and calm in autumn.
And to make it round, we will stop to enjoy a picnic overlooking the waterfall, surrounded by the sound of water and birdsong. A simple but unforgettable experience.
All our routes are accessible by public transport: the bus from Plaza de Castilla leaves us directly in Buitrago. If you prefer to go by car, we encourage you to share seats and expenses with other participants.

Bus Burguer Plaza Castilla, Madrid
We will go by public transport, so bring cash for the bus, (approx 10 euros round trip) which is not included in the price (under 26 years old free with Transport Pass). If you have your own car, you can bring it and take other participants with you to share the gas.
By purchasing the cancellation insurance you will be able to cancel and receive a full refund or change the date up to 24 hours prior to the trip. This way you guarantee not to lose the full amount of the trip due to change of plans, illness, personal issues, etc.
