About a thousand miniature books arrive this March 10 in Madrid at the Moda Shopping Mall. Known as the “Liliput Library”, it is made up of a collection of miniature books from different fields.
From the Lorenzo de’ Medici to the masses of Saint Francis and Saint Anne, which is the smallest codex preserved in the Vatican Library, this exhibition will show you the charm of literature in miniature.
Likewise, the exhibition is also made up of artistic compositions on a scale that recreate scenes from stories, tales and popular narratives. Other miniature works that you can find are the work of Don Quixote inscribed in the Guinness Book of Records, copies of the world’s smallest books as the full text of the novel Study in scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle and other curiosities around the world of books and miniaturism.
From buttons, pencil sharpeners, key rings, jewelry, plates, and fabric are some of the materials that make up the Dioramas that can be seen in the exhibition, created thanks to the incredible skill and technique of many artists; small travel libraries, almanacs, driving license, stories adapted to children’s hands or designed to be hidden in a matchbox are some of the other incredible things that make up “The Lilliput Library”.
Also noteworthy are the reproductions of Sherlock Holmes’s study and Madame Bovary’s bedroom with a library with 300 printed and legible micro-books; and mini universes of popular tales such as The Little Prince or Alice in Wonderland.
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 10 to April 10with uninterrupted hours from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Admission is free.
