Next week Book Day will be celebrated in Madrid, and it will come with many free activities for all audiences. It has been held since 1988 worldwide, and seeks to encourage reading and promote different publishers.
Book Day will be celebrated on April 23 worldwide and is promoted by UNESCO to encourage reading and the protection of intellectual property through copyright.
In Madrid there will be different free activities, which will be distributed in different districts, libraries and bookstores in Madrid.
Here are some of the activities in different spaces and districts
Activities in the districts
- III Book Fair in Arganzuela from April 19 to 23, 2024. It will be at the Junta Municipal del Distrito de Arganzuela.
- A house forever at the Centro Sociocultural José de Espronceda in Tetuán. It will be held on April 19 at 7:30 pm.
- Los Gorriones: ‘Tell me a story’ at the Centro Cultural – Centro Socio Cultural Villa de Barajas. It will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 12:30 pm.
- The future and books will be at the Centro Sociocultural Francisco Fatou in Villa de Vallecas. It will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 7:00 pm.
- Book Day in Vicálvaro. It will be held on April 23 at 5 p.m. at the Valdebernardo Cultural Center.
- Book Day in Tetuán will be from April 26th to 27th at the Centro Cultural Eduardo Úrculo in Tetuán.
- Vallecas book street will be on April 26th at 7 pm at the Centro Sociocultural Alberto Sanchez in Puente de Vallecas.
- Vallecas our history will be on April 30 at 7 p.m. at the Lope de Vega Cultural Center in Puente de Vallecas.
Book Day in Madrid City Council Libraries
- Human Library at the San Fermin Municipal Public Library in Usera. It will be held from March 11 to April 23.
- Come and see your favorite bookmark at the María Zambrano Municipal Public Library in Tetuán. April 8 to 30.
- ‘Rebels and visionaries. Romantic, Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Painters’ by Pedro Ortega Ventureira’ at the Ciudad Lineal Municipal Public Library. It will be held on April 18 at 7 pm.
- Yo quiero tocar la luna’ narrated by the author at the Mario Vargas Llosa Municipal Public Library in Centro. It will be held on April 19 at 6 pm.
- ‘Asesinato en directo’ by Juan Miguel Antoranz at the Biblioteca Pública Municipal María Zambrano in Tetuán. It will be held on April 19 at 6:30 pm.
- United by books. Dramatized monologue at the José Hierro Municipal Public Library in San Blas-Canillejas. It will be held on April 22 at 6 pm.
- Dramatized reading by actress Anna Allen at the Iván de Vargas Municipal Public Library. It will be held on April 22 at 7 pm.
- Massive bookcrossing at the José Saramago Municipal Public Library. It will be held on April 23 at 10 am.
- Book Day” celebration at the Gabriel García Márquez Municipal Public Library in Usera. It will be held on April 23 at 5:30 pm.
- The collectors of zeros at the San Fermín Municipal Public Library in Usera. It will be held on April 23 at 6 pm.
- Magical tales on April 23 at 6 p.m. at the Iván de Vagas Municipal Public Library.
- ‘Cuenta perros’ by Luis García García at the Iván de Vargas Municipal Library on April 23 at 7 pm.
- Mudejar architecture in Castilla y León: the focus of Cuéllar in the Iván de Vargas Municipal Public Library. It will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 pm.
- Cervantes’ Madrid at the José Hierro Municipal Public Library in San Blas-Canillejas. It will be held on April 26 at 12:00 noon.
Book Night
The Night of the Books returns to Madrid with the slogan A house forever, which refers to the way we inhabit the world and our intimacy and refuge in it.
This 2024, more than 100 bookstores, 135 institutions, 120 libraries and cultural spaces are participating. There will be more than 560 activities throughout the Community of Madrid.
It will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 and will begin at 6 p.m. at the Real Casa de Correos.
Book Day and Night in Equality Spaces
- Butterflies that fly again in a world of colors by Cristina Alonso from Thursday, April 11 to April 24 at the María Moliner Equality Space in Villa de Vallecas.
- Guada’s creative corner: we celebrated Book Day with crafts at the Emilia Pardo Bazán Equality Space in Ciudad Lineal. It will be held from April 11 to 25.
- An afternoon of storytelling: women of today women of yesteryear at the Espacio de Igualdad Nieves Torres in Chamartín. It will be held on April 16 at 5 pm.
- The night of books at the Espacio de Igualdad Carme Chacón at the Espacio de Igualdad Carme Chacón in Hortaleza. It will be held on Friday, April 19 at 12:00 noon.
